Buenos Aires, Feb. 2 (NA) – The general secretary of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiar, stated on Monday that the resignation of Marco Lavagna from INDEC “raises doubts about the future” of the agency and considered it “not a coincidence” that it occurs “just eight days before the implementation of the new Consumer Price Index (CPI), after seven months of constant inflation rise.” “We should not rule out that the new authorities of the Institute may intend to manipulate the information and establish greater control over the data,” stated the state union leader. “Workers will not participate in any tampering with statistics. The deterioration in people's living conditions and the increasing inflationary process cannot be hidden,” he added. And he concluded: “We reaffirm our struggle for an INDEC independent of governments and political parties”.
